"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward." (Colossians 3:23-24)
Kids learn at an early age that good behavior is rewarded. The reward can be a few words of encouragement or, on monumental occasions, something tangible like a treat or a gift. Or a certificate. On May 11, 2017, the Classical Conversations community of Marlton gathered at Sovereign Grace Church to mark the occasion at the annual End Of Year Event.
As students and teachers took to the stage to present and demonstrate the school year's accomplishments, it was evident that all of the hard work was not in vain. Interactive re-enactments of historical time periods, vocal ensembles, skits and presentations - all presented by the students- shed light on student's intellect and understanding of God. In the end, students and teachers received certificates for academic milestones as well as for going above and beyond the requirement. And parents were included - they also received certificates!
Sue August, Classical Conversations (Challenge A) director, has her eyes fixed on one thing. "My desire is to see homeschooling parents finish the journey well," she says. "Homeschooling is hard work and my hope is that by God's grace and the support systems that Classical Conversations offers, parents will be able to keep their eyes on the ultimate goal of raising children who love their Lord and Savior above all else."
For those who stepped out on faith, especially new homeschool parents, trusting and believing that God would carry you through, this is confirmation that God sees everything. He knows what we need. Simply through demonstration, children realize this too - that they can have the same faith as their parents, knowing that God is with them throughout the challenges of learning, and also that what God has for them is for them. More importantly is the fact that He rejoices with us!
"Some of my best success stories come from our brand new families - those who are doing it for the first time", says Barbara Soffer, Classical Conversations (Foundations) director. "Most moms will tell me that they have grown in their trust in God and in His provision for their family. He has been faithful to equip our families in every way possible!"
As parents, if we are careful with implementing this strategy of rewarding good behavior, the experience will always be a win-win worth celebrating. This concept rings true for many believers who desire to experience the joy and the reward of knowing Jesus Christ. This is the mission of Classical Conversations - to know God and to make Him known - and it was greatly accomplished this year.
A note from Barbara Soffer, CC (Foundations) director: Classical Conversations of Marlton is very grateful to Sovereign Grace Church for allowing us to use the church building on Thursdays to conduct our homeschooling classes. Our Community feels so at home here and we have enjoyed excellent support from the pastors and the staff.)
Classical Conversations is a Christian international homeschool community. It was introduced to SGC in 2015 and since then, it has expanded, opening its doors to the entire Marlton community.
