For the last six months, Sovereign Grace has been gearing up for a benefit concert called The Best Of Broadway. I had the pleasure of interviewing the event coordinator, Robin Young, who along with her extremely talented team, has been working hard to prepare for a celebration of Broadway music and theatrical experience you do not want to miss. Read the interview here:
Q: What is the Best of Broadway? What are we going to see?
A: We have an exciting lineup of Broadway favorites. Les Miserables, The Sound of Music, The Phantom of the Opera, as well as hits from the Disney catalogue and much more.
Q: Who will be in the show?
A: Too many performers to list. The lineup of highly talented musicians including Andy Boettcher (Vocal Director), Mark DiMarcangelo (Instrumental Director) and Jesse Barakat (Publicity Planning) will not disappoint.
Q: How did this event come about?
A: At the Sweetheart Banquet in February we had a 20-minute segment of Broadway music for couples to enjoy during dessert. The response was so favorable that Pastor Warren initiated planning a full evening of Broadway music as a benefit concert and outreach event.
Q: Who is this event for? Who is welcome to come?
A: This is definitely a public event! Our desire is to reach out to our community, so please invite friends, neighbors, family members. And feel free to share the event online.
The Best of Broadway concert will take place at Sovereign Grace Church on Saturday, September 23 at 7PM. Tickets are available online ($5) and at the door ($7). Sign up HERE.
All proceeds will benefit Covenant Mercies, an organization dedicated to orphan care around the world.
