Because He Loves Me: Women's Weekend

If you walked into the church last Friday night, you were greeted with the welcoming hum of around 300 ladies mingling and chatting over delicious desserts in a warm setting decorated with autumn elegance. They were gathered for the women’s weekend which I found to be honest and refreshing, and I’m sure many other women would say the same. Well-known author and speaker Elyse Fitzpatrick brought laughs, comfort and challenges to the conference with the theme Because He Loves Me, a topic derived from one of her popular books. To say that the weekend was a blessing to all would be an understatement. Not only were Elyse’s teachings down to earth in terms of how much or how little you experience God’s love and the Gospel on a daily basis, but beyond the teaching times, the women’s ministry did everything possible to make it a special weekend. A prayer team, who had been praying weeks before the conference even started, was available to pray for anyone as needed throughout the weekend. Reflection time and lunch time were built into the schedule to allow for more time of fellowship with the Lord and girlfriends. The food was delicious and plentiful which showed the care and sacrifice of a handful of women who baked ahead of time and served all weekend. The worship times were thoughtful and dwelt on the theme of God’s love for us which allowed for further reflection on Elyse’s teachings. Yes, nothing was lacking from the weekend; it was evident that much thoughtfulness and careful planning from the women’s ministry team went into the weekend, and for that, we are grateful. As you enjoy the quick glimpses into the weekend below, let’s be reminded of Elyse’s quote from Timothy Keller that sums up the whole weekend – “We are more sinful and flawed in ourselves than we ever dared believe, yet at the very same time we are more loved and accepted in Jesus Christ than we ever dared hope.”
