In Mark’s Gospel (6:31) Jesus tells the apostles, “come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” Young adults 18 and over wisely heeded that advice May 18-20 and gathered at Camp Andrews in Holtwood, PA to be refreshed and examine their commitment to Christ and Christ’s commitment to them and all believers.
Pastors Jason Reyes and Andrew Kalvelage delivered messages on commitment to the word, Christian growth, the church and the Gospel, using texts from Corinthians, Titus, and Deuteronomy.
“Resolved is an opportunity for these busy young people to retreat briefly from the world,” Jason said a few days after the event. “It provides them the space needed to absorb challenging teachings that meet them in their current season.”
“The Resolved retreat was an awesome time be under the word with other believers,” said attendee Daniel Mauchly. “And spending time with friends was a lot of fun. Overall it was a refreshing weekend, and I feel that I grew in my love for the Lord as we learned about his love and commitment to us.”
“It’s good to get away and out of the normal routine of life,” said attendee Devon Peterson, who was attending her first Resolved retreat, “because changing your environment helps you to concentrate on what you’re learning.”
“I also liked the retreat’s structure,” she said. “There were specific devotional times. And each devotional came with questions that applied not only to the readings but that can be applied to you after the retreat is finished and for the rest of your life.”
